We are in the second half of December, looking forward to the end of year celebrations and preparing for the new year to come. 2023 was full of news and exciting developments in Adam Nagaitis’s career. Here are some highlights from the last twelve months.
January – February
The year began with the release of The Gold, a series depicting the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery, the biggest gold robbery in the history of the United Kingdom. Adam appeared in the show as Micky McAvoy, one of the six responsible for the theft of more than 26 million pounds.
The series was released on 12 February 2023 on BBC One. The Gold currently has one season with six episodes and is available on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video. In November, the BBC announced they had commissioned a second series, but it is not yet known if Adam will reprise his role as McAvoy.
A few days later, on 15 February, Red Rose was released internationally on Netflix. Red Rose had already been shown on British television in 2022, but this allowed a greater number of people to watch Adam in the role of Rick, a father with a dark past who tries to get closer to his teenage daughter.
Along with The Gold and Red Rose, Adam’s fans continued to watch the filming of the spin off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (TWD:DD) for any news of his character Quinn or appearances of him on set.
March - April
March and April were calm, followed by some important news in the next months. In May, small teasers for TWD:DD began to be released, increasing our excitement to see Adam bringing Quinn to life.
In June it was revealed that Adam had begun a new phase in his career by joining a new agency. Adam left Curtis Brown and joined Independent Talent, the same agency behind big names like Jared Harris, Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant.
July - August
The month of July continued to bring us more information about Daryl Dixon’s journey through post-apocalyptic France in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. At San Diego Comic Con, AMC released the first full trailer and announced 10 September for the premiere of the series. Excitement was high.
In the second half of August, we had some unexpected news. A new (old) work of Adam’s had been added to his IMDB. Adam was part of an episode of the long-running radio drama The Archers in 2012, playing the character Corey. Until then, this credit was unknown to the fanbase. (Unfortunately, we have no information about the episode and Adam’s character in this production).
September – October
With the arrival of the last four months of the year, there has been an increase in news, bringing us a lot to look forward to.
At the beginning of the month, on 10 September, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiered, and we were finally able to meet Adam’s character, Quinn. Quinn is a black marketeer and owner of an underground nightclub called Demimonde, a place where the former glory of bohemian Paris remains alive even after the zombie apocalypse.
It was fantastic to be able to follow Quinn and the other characters for six weeks in beautiful Paris, despite the apocalypse (and the zombies). Definitely one of the highlights of the year.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is available on several streaming platforms such as AMC+, Prime Video and Star+, among others.
September also brought us new projects to look forward to next year! Adam will star alongside Martin Freeman in the second season of the acclaimed crime drama series The Responder. Adam was also confirmed as part of the cast of the series A Thousand Blows. This drama series explores the illegal world of boxing in Victorian London. Adam is playing Lord Lonsdale, a controversial English nobleman.
October also presented us with news about a film that we have been waiting for a long time, American Star! The movie was shown at the 24th Newsport Beach Film Festival on 13 October, raising our expectations for a future release.
As part of TWD:DD, Adam was featured doing several small interviews for the Cast Diaries. He also participated in the episode of Show Me More dedicated to showing behind the scenes of the AMC production. The episode featured many interviews with the cast and crew, as well as details about the creation of the show’s characters and settings. Especially fun was the footage of Adam and Norman Reedus filming one of the major zombie fights in the series. The episode is available on YouTube. The Cast Diaries are available on AMC+
November-December
As expected, the announcement of the date for American Star came soon. AMC Theaters will release the film on 26 January. It will also be available on Video on Demand. American Star follows Wilson (Ian McShane) an assassin at the end of his career on his last job. What had at first seemed like an easy assignment turns very complex in just a few days. Adam is playing Ryan, who appears to have a close professional (and possibly personal) relationship with Wilson.
To close the year 2023 with a flourish, on 12 December, the first trailer for the film was released, making us even more excited.
The year 2023 was incredible! We had the joy of following Adam Nagaitis’ incredible projects and meeting some fascinating new characters.
Next year promises to be very exciting and full of new projects that we will love to follow. Everyone on the team wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year! 🎄🎉
