Hey friends, here it is, the thing I haven’t been looking forward to. It’s the very last Franny. ☹ How did these last six weeks go by so fast?
This last ep was something else too. Gotta say goodbye to everyone. Honestly, I’m relieved Marco was able to get out of Liverpool with Adele. I know he was hoping for something with Casey, but I don’t think she could ever stop being Casey. I’m also glad she didn’t try to go with him and distract him from being the good dad he wants to be. I am wondering what the heck his baby mama gonna think when she gets out of prison though!
Oh man! Besides Franny my very favorite part of this last episode is where Chris beats the SHIT out of that asshole Ray! Looks like Ray fucked around and found out. Exactly what was the point of all his nosing around anyway? Just to mess with Chris? I’m wondering if he’ll keep his nose in his own business going forward. For real, I wanted to give Kate a punch too. Her and Ray are perfect for each other. Whiny, annoying, self-righteous…y’all were not my people.
I also very much enjoyed Chris’s dad’s reaction to the beatdown on Ray. The man was proud! Chris ends up finally getting out of his shit job (damn…I feel this statement in my soul), letting Kate and Tilly do what they will, and dropping in on his dad, hopefully to start mending their relationship. Chris’s dad really needs some visiting too, because that man is disappearing into his TV.
YES! Rachel finally reports Steve for the domestic violence assaults on her. I hope she’ll be able to move on and stop staring at that damn iron with bad intent and also stop her lousy ex from living rent free in her head. Time to take that trash out. WAY out.
Then there’s my little main event boy. The very essence of Satan in Liverpool, gorgeous Franny Sutton! Franny has been a scary dude from the start. Between the eyes, the smile and that temper you know he’s going to get even scarier at some point. We see him sitting there at home, watching The Great British Bake-Off with Debs and his son. Having this very sweet, quiet family moment…until his phone goes off. He suspicions Chris isn’t going to deliver Casey to him and Jodie, so he’s obviously pissed off, then he’s out the door without much explanation, leaving Debs behind watching him leave. I can almost read her mind. She has to be thinking, ‘Is this the time he leaves and never comes home again?’ Or maybe that’s just my own anxiety chiming in, because that’s what I’d be thinking. That makes me feel sad, so I’m gonna moooove on!
I’d been looking forward to the scene where Franny’s outside on his cell phone. I’d heard that he goes on a scary little rant and his voice wanders into some uncharted territory us Nagaitis-lovers haven’t heard before. OK! Let’s do this! Well, there’s a sign, Franny looking up at the moon. Probably waking up his animal instincts. And…good LORD, sir what kind of shit are you talking? Where did THAT crazy-talk come from? Demon-boi!
After that, Franny’s really kicking it into high gear. I think he’s having a great time trying to get Jodie to bash Casey’s head in with his trusty ‘ole hammer. Jodie is totally out of her league and not up to Franny’s level of violence. She ends up giving her cake shop to Franny and will probably forever be indebted to him in some way. After seeing this side of Franny, I’m not feeling good about Jodie’s odds. But, maybe it’ll sweeten him up a little bit? Franny’s Ice Cream and Cake Shop…and some special brownies. Just a little taste now, you’ll be back for more later? He also lays a claim on Chris, and Chris…he’s not interested in being one of Franny’s ‘tools’. Chris is done with the whole scene, and I don’t blame him. Franny is one intense, dangerous and crazy little man.
I wonder if there will be a season three? How is Franny going to take it that Chris isn’t a cop anymore? Will he go after Chris, or will he just get himself a new pet cop? He seems like the type to want to hold on to things he considers his. As scary and naughty as Franny is, I’d love to see him again! Adam did an amazing job as Franny. Once again though, Martin Freeman knew Adam would make Franny as scary, funny and strangely lovable as he was. Thanks again, Martin!
Well, friends, I’m going to miss my weekly Franny, but there’s Upholstergeist to look forward to, as well as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 1 coming up on Netflix. We’ve also been talking about doing some rewatches and reactions/blog posts about The Terror (always) and other shows and movies Adam has been in. MUCH more to come on the site here!
